The Erwin Historical Society and. Museum is thrilled to announce a special film screening event, “Captured in Time -- 1930s Erwin on Film,” taking place on March 13, 2025, at 7:00 PM at the Erwin Community Building, located at 100 West F Street. This unique event will feature a rare 1930s film shot by acclaimed filmmaker and photographer H. Lee Waters. Known for capturing the everyday life of small Southern towns, Waters visited Erwin, North Carolina, and immortalized its people, businesses, and community spirit in this one-of-a-kind footage. The film offers a remarkable window into Erwin’s history during a time when the town thrived as a mill community. Admission is free, and everyone is welcome to join this special journey back in time. This event gives our community the opportunity to connect with the past and reflect on the traditions that have shaped us.
